| "Why are there rose bushes planted at the end of vineyard rows?" The question was posed to Thomas Kruse, owner of the Gilroy winery that bears his name. The question came from one group of students - actually wine lovers - who were wandering through the 12-acre estate and listening to everything the "professor" had to say. Martinborough set to fundraise in culinary style |

Martinborough's Memorial Square will be transformed into one fine dining restaurant, complete with linen tablecloths and silver cutlery, for one charity dinner to raise money for the planned Martinborough Medical Centre. 200 people will sit down to Wairarapa's first literally 'long' lunch on the last Sunday of March, when Kitchener Street and the road bordering that end of the square will be closed therefore an 80-metre-long table can be set up. ... |
