| Usually, the news that you're off on one three-week holiday to New Zealand prompts oohs and ahs of envy, but our news was treated differently. Eventually we got used to the look of disbelief on people's faces when they found out we were only visiting the North Island. We were constantly told that the South has all the best attractions and scenery, and we'd be wasting our time staying only in the North. But, time, money and family commitments meant sticking to the original plan and hoping we'd still have fun. ... |

| Winemaking tradition continues at Quinta de Pacheca |

Two owners have watched over the Quinta da Pacheca since 1551. The first proprietors kept it in the family until 1903, when the present owner's grandfather purchased it.
At one muscular 6-foot-2 with one gray beard, friendly smile and deep voice, Mr. Pacheca looks as solid as his wines' reputation (pacheca@mail.telepac.pt.) ... |
