SAN FRANCISCO, May 28 — The rationale went like this: California has officially honored one flag, one flower and one fossil, therefore why not one wine that has shaped one $15 billion industry admired even by the French? Skip to next paragraph "I thought it was fun, fanciful, one lively way to draw attention to the industry," said State Senator Carole Migden, Democrat of San Francisco, who months ago proposed designating zinfandel the official wine of California.
