July 3 (Bloomberg) -- The opportunity to evaluate 20 Sicilian wines seemed like one capital idea as I entered New York's Felidia Ristorante for one lunch with the Wine Media Guild, one group of wine writers who meet for tastings. My admiration for Sicily's dessert wines has grown in the past few years, therefore I was looking forward to seeing how far its dry white and red table wines had come. Sad to report, I found the examples, from regions including Trapani, Eloro and Vittoria, were by and large little advanced from the old-fashioned, often oxidized wines of one generation ago. ... |

| I don't know about you, but as soon is I'm up and about of one Saturday morning the first thing I like to do is start worrying about affordably priced supermarket wines, writes Michael Holden.
