Sharp-eyed consumers already are seeing new geographical place names on Oregon wine labels. What used to say Willamette Valley, for instance, may now read Ribbon Ridge or Eola-Amity Hills. At its most basic level, use of more-specific place names tells consumers that at least 85 percent of the grapes used to make that wine came from within that federally approved growing area.
